The dimensions of the cart's opening (above the shelf to the upside down surface) = w: 2', d: 1'8", h: 1'8" the plans can easily be altered to accept wider or taller tools.. The top front is just hinged to the top back with narrow profile hinges, installed inside the gap in between the top boards. the easiest way to do this is to position the bench top pieces as if the bench was fully open, and on the exposed inside edges, screw on hinges. test to make sure bench closes well and adjust if necessary..
